New Orleans Nightlife

Greater New Orleans nightlife offers diverse activities.

With a reputation for excitement and eccentricity, the nightlife in New Orleans offers a variety of restaurants and venues where residents can enjoy diverse sights, sounds and tastes on any given evening.

The region is a blend of many cultures that have influenced the area. From food and drinks to live music and shows, each area contributes something unique to the region’s thriving nightlife scene.

Art & cuisine in the Warehouse District

Referred to as the New Orleans Arts District, the Warehouse District is home to more than 25 commercial galleries that participate in an art hop the first Saturday night of each month. For the culinary arts, the district’s restaurants and cafés serve exceptional food in a range of atmospheres, from formal and upscale to casual and relaxed.

The Bywater & The Garden District

A short distance from the French Quarter is the Bywater District and the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood. This eclectic and artistic New Orleans neighborhood has its own brand of nighttime fun. After-hours pop-up art markets, storied jazz spots and music joints, especially along Frenchmen Street, draw the attention of locals and out-of-towners alike.

Filled with magnificent oak tree-lined streets and avenues, the Garden District, Uptown and Carrollton neighborhoods are some of the most picturesque in the city. The area has no shortage of nighttime activities due to its established restaurants and variety of bars. Magazine Street, a charming corridor of retail shops, art galleries and antique stores, is a popular evening stop for locals. Music clubs of all sizes feature local favorites and national acts.

Dining & entertainment on the Northshore

The New Orleans nightlife scene would not be complete without the neighboring communities of Covington and Mandeville, where many working New Orleanians live and play. Excellent eateries, cafes and craft breweries as well as local theaters and live music venues, both modern and traditional,  provide a fun and friendly local atmosphere.
