Tulane Medical Center
Tulane Medical Center, opened in 1976, is a teaching, research and medical facility serving the Greater New Orleans area, where 90 percent of the medical school’s faculty of physicians both teach and work in the hospital.
With 24 specialty clinics, more than 320 licensed beds, more than 600 physicians with admitting privileges and nearly 2,000 full-time employees, it was the first hospital in Orleans Parish to earn Comprehensive Stroke Center accreditation. In 2013, it was also the first hospital in the United States to report performing a novel, minimally invasive procedure called an aortic dissection.
