The VooDoo Cast a Spell with Arena Football

View All Sports

The New Orleans VooDoo represents the city as an Arena Football League (AFL) franchise. The AFL team plays its home games in the 18,000-seat Smoothie King Center, known on those nights as “The Graveyard.” Played indoors, arena football uses eight players and a smaller field than American football, resulting in faster-paced, higher-scoring games.

Dancers, music, crowd participation and special theme nights make VooDoo games especially appealing to families. The regular season consists of 18 games starting in March and running into August. At the end of each regular season, an eight-team, single-elimination tournament is held and culminates in the championship game known as the Arena Bowl. Weekly AFL games are regularly shown on ESPN2 and ESPNEWS, with the Arena Bowl traditionally broadcast on ESPN.
