View All Parks & Rec

Pelican Park is nestled on the Northshore between Mandeville and Fountainebleau State Park and covers 280 acres of green space, including a skate park, disc golf course, two gymnasiums, dozens of fields and courts, and two dog parks. The park is also the site of the Castine Center which hosts numerous community events throughout the year.

Park officials facilitate a number of sport leagues based on community interest with volunteer coaches including annual clinics for coaches in each sport – held with a contracted professional. Clinics are also regularly held for sports’ participants, such as the Tulane baseball clinic, where the team demonstrates fundamentals of the game for area youth.

Park staff and volunteers provide hundreds of classes every year , many of which are free. Leisure classes are divided into categories such as arts and crafts, health and wellness, and personal development, with topics ranging from knitting and stained glass to computer maintenance and Zumba.
