BACK TO Public Schools

New Sarpy Elementary School is a pre-kindergarten-through-2nd-grade school that received an A rating for the 2014-15 academic year by the Louisiana Department of Education. In addition, a member of the faculty was named Louisiana Teacher of the Year in 2014. Music, the arts and cultures of the world are special areas of focus at this St. Charles Parish school, located about 25 miles from New Orleans.

Subjects from art and science to reading and math are creatively taught at New Sarpy Elementary School. Kindergartners explore theories about the disappearance of dinosaurs and conduct experiments to learn more about lava and volcanoes. First graders study character traits, second graders examine fables and folklores and enter original poetry, fiction and non-fiction work in a school-sponsored young authors contest. New Sarpy’s gifted track and gifted-and-talented specialists provide individualized challenges to high-achieving students.

Intercultural awareness and a celebration of the arts are additional aspects of classroom and campus life. Students publish their research on various countries in New Sarpy’s monthly newsletter. New Sarpy Elementary School also has a yearly arts festival and a student art club.
