View All Parks & Rec

City Park is the one of the oldest urban parks in the country, providing 1,300 acres of flora and fauna, including the largest stand of mature live oaks in the world and a botanical garden. Families and friends will find a wide range of features available to park visitors, including:

  • Botanical garden
  • Equestrian stable
  • Gated dog park
  • Golf course
  • Sculpture garden
  • Storyland – boasting 25 sculptures depicting children’s stories

The park provides the means to enjoy recreational activities such as tennis, boating, biking and more, and it offers a nature trail through a 60-acre forest, a 400-meter polyurethane track and many more paved paths for cycling and jogging around the park. Children enjoy the playgrounds and the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park.

Visitors can appreciate art and music at City Park. Situated beside the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden features more than 60 sculptures resting on five acres of garden paths, footbridges and trees draped in Spanish Moss.

The Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series is held almost year-round at the New Orleans Botanical Garden’s indoor pavilion and features jazz, rhythm and blues musicians.
