Newcomers to the Southeast Louisiana Region have access to thousands of acres of parks and public green space, numerous family-friendly amenities, short commutes and a range of neighborhoods in New Orleans and its surrounding locales that suit diverse personal tastes. Moreover, the price of housing is generally lower than other metropolitan areas.

New Orleans, Metairie, the Northshore and other nearby communities feature a range of architectural styles, from wrought iron-trimmed townhouses to Baroque-influenced mansions and lakefront lots in quiet suburbs. Many of these New Orleans neighborhoods are situated near interstates and four-lane state highways, making it easy to get to work and school.

Cycling has also become an important part of the area’s transportation fabric. New Orleans has planned or completed 70 miles in bike lanes, helping it earn a bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community award from the League of American Bicyclists.

Area professionals work hard – but with short commutes and reasonable housing costs they have more time and energy for enjoying the region’s unique culture and beauty.
