In addition, many hospitals are located in close proximity to Uptown, Mid-City and Metairie, providing fast and convenient service.

New Orleans is home to the flagship hospital for the Ochsner Health System — Southeast Louisiana’s largest healthcare system including nationally recognized research efforts and 90 medical specialties. The Ochsner Medical Center alone, based out of New Orleans, provides residents with more than 600 physicians and 80 medical specialties and subspecialties, six of which were ranked among the best in the nation by the 2015-16 U.S. News & World Report.

In addition, multiple Northshore hospitals in Covington and Slidell have received Outstanding Patient Experience Awards in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Among this selection, St. Tammany Parish Hospital earned a 2014 Women’s Choice Award for specialty services in Cancer Care, Orthopedics, Cardiology and Obstetrics.
